The GTA 6 Launch Trailer Sells a Couple and a Record
Rockstar’s 90-second GTA 6 launch trailer, out October 15, pushes a Justice single and a couple story 35 days before the November 19 release.
Rockstar Games posted a 90-second GTA 6 launch trailer on October 15, 35 days before the November 19 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The footage was captured in-game on a PlayStation 5. It is a story-and-song reel, not a systems demo.
Justice, the French duo writing the original score, debuts “Flower in a Hurricane” over a chase, a heist, and a shower scene between Jason and Lucia Caminos. The same morning, sacked Rockstar staff rallied outside an employment tribunal in Glasgow.
Ninety Seconds of a Couple and a Song
Rockstar’s YouTube upload, titled Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer, runs 1:30 and carried just over 25 million views a day after it went up. The studio’s own description does not talk about guns, wanted levels, or physics. It talks about two people who already know the deck is stacked.
Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida, forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.
Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer description
Jason’s first lines are about the Army and credit. “I got in some trouble in the Army,” he says. “Didn’t leave on the best of terms.” Then: “They don’t give loans or anything to people like me.” A switchboard cuts in with “This is a free call from Lucia Caminos.” Later they ask if they will be okay, and he answers that they have stuck together through everything and just have to get through it.
WHAT THE 90 SECONDS SHOW
- The Keys: The cut opens on that stretch of Leonida, a corner earlier trailers barely used.
- The jail call: Lucia’s free call sits with an ankle tag on her leg, a parole read that matches the prison audio.
- The shower: The two leads share an intimate scene that matches the Mature rating’s sexual-content line.
- The getaway: A heist goes wrong in the air, with a helicopter escape that does not go clean.
- The chase: Police close in across crowded streets, boats, and nightlife that the camera treats as atmosphere, not a tutorial.
Watch the cut on Rockstar’s channel. The systems work is not in these 90 seconds. It was already in the nearly 27-minute Extended Look from August 27.
35 Days Is Early for a Launch Trailer
Rockstar still calls this a launch trailer. The calendar does not match the last two times the studio used that label. Red Dead Redemption 2’s launch trailer landed October 18, 2018, eight days before that game’s October 26 ship date. Grand Theft Auto V’s last pre-release trailer went out August 29, 2013, 19 days before September 17, 2013.
THE LAUNCH TRAILER CLOCK
| Game | Launch trailer | Release | Days before |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | August 29, 2013 | September 17, 2013 | 19 |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 18, 2018 | October 26, 2018 | 8 |
| Grand Theft Auto VI | October 15, 2026 | November 19, 2026 | 35 |
Thirty-five days is five full weeks. That gap only makes sense if the trailer is not trying to explain the game. Trailer 1 went up December 4, 2023. Trailer 2 followed in May 2025. The August Extended Look then spent nearly 27 minutes on the world. By October 15 there was nothing left to reveal except tone, and stolen clips had already filled that silence.
Rockstar had already moved the launch to November 19 after two earlier slips, first out of autumn 2025 and then out of May 2026. The date is locked. The last official video is now a 35-day sales clip for a game that has been visible for months.
Justice Wrote the Score, Then the Single
The loudest new fact in the description is not a mission. It is a record. Rockstar says Justice composed the original score, the duo’s first video-game score, and that “Flower in a Hurricane,” featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, is a standalone single. The Justice channel’s upload of the track runs 3:45. Kevin Parker is credited on guitar and lead vocals with SZA; the French pair produced.
The song also sits on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, a 34-track set of original songs due the same day as the game. Nine of those tracks are already out. Vinyl is listed at $49.98, the CD at $19.98, and a limited vinyl at $124.98 that the official store marks sold out. Fans can pre-order the soundtrack on vinyl while the standard pressing lasts.
THE ALBUM ON THE SHELF
| Format | Price | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Standard vinyl | $49.98 | Pre-order |
| CD | $19.98 | Pre-order |
| Limited-edition vinyl | $124.98 | Sold out |
That is a second product with its own checkout page, riding a trailer that would have been a gameplay ad in 2013. Rockstar’s X post of the cut led with the song, not with a feature list, and that post passed 42 million views on its own. Replies treated the video as a finish line and as a shower clip. Almost nobody in that thread argued about cover mechanics, because those arguments already happened in August.

What the Trailer Puts Back on Rockstar’s Terms
The shower is the frame people paused. It also arrives after a week in which leaked clips did the same job without Rockstar’s permission. On October 8, the group Cyberleek posted about 25 minutes of play, including a long stretch with Jason undressed, around 14 minutes by accounts of that video. A later clip dated October 13 showed Lucia undressed in public and in the air. Rockstar has not said those files match the finished game, and some of the nude movement looks like a debug build. The launch trailer now puts an official sex scene on the studio’s own channel, under a rating the store already printed.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board’s Mature 17+ listing with seven descriptors went live on store pages around October 1. PEGI 18 is the European mark. The American line matches the modern listing for Grand Theft Auto V.
ESRB MATURE 17+ DESCRIPTORS
- Blood and Gore: Listed beside intense violence on the M 17+ record.
- Nudity: Named as its own descriptor, separate from the sexual-content line.
- Strong Sexual Content: The board’s label for the sex the trailer now teases on purpose.
- Use of Drugs and Alcohol: Carried with mature humor and strong language, plus an in-game purchases flag.
WHAT WE KNOW
- Official sex: The launch trailer shows the two leads in the shower, and the ESRB lists both nudity and strong sexual content.
- Official rating: Mature 17+ in the United States, PEGI 18 in Europe, with in-game purchases noted.
WHAT IS UNCONFIRMED
- Leak builds: Whether Cyberleek’s nude clips are final code, a debug toggle, or an older branch.
- Story dump: The same group has threatened to post the main story before November 19; that has not happened in public at the time of the trailer.
Putting the couple in a locked bathroom, on Rockstar’s YouTube page, is how the studio answers a leak it cannot fully erase. The rating was already public. The trailer makes the rating visible as romance rather than as a stolen file.
PlayStation 5 Gets the Capture Credit in Writing
Every recent Grand Theft Auto VI video has carried the same hardware line, and this one does too: captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5. Rockstar does not say whether that machine is a base PS5 or a PS5 Pro. The official Plays Best On PS5 trailer page still prints a second, sharper claim. The game “Plays Best On” PlayStation 5, in Rockstar’s own words, while Xbox Series X and Series S remain day-one platforms.
That is a marketing gift Sony did not have to buy as a timed exclusive. The capture credit tells anyone watching that the image on screen is a console image, not a PC-prettied render, and the “plays best” line sits on the same site that is taking pre-orders. Microsoft still gets the game on November 19. It does not get the sentence under the trailer.
No PC date is on that page. Take-Two has kept the first run on the two current consoles, the same console-first pattern the company has used for Rockstar’s last two giants. Anyone waiting for a Windows build is watching a 90-second ad for hardware they cannot use on day one.
A Rally at the Glasgow Tribunal, Same Morning
The trailer did not land in a quiet week. On October 15, former Rockstar staff held a rally outside the Glasgow Tribunals centre while company managers sat inside for a second day of questions. Rockstar dismissed 34 workers in the United Kingdom and Canada in October 2025, saying they had shared confidential company information in a private Discord forum. Twenty-three of them are in the hearing, claiming they were sacked for union activity with the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain.
Robert Spampinato, Rockstar’s vice president of HR, told the tribunal the revenge-for-union idea was “preposterous,” and that the posts were disparaging and broke policy. He also said that by October 2025 the company had been in “crisis mode,” running late on Grand Theft Auto VI and working out how to announce a delay. Judge Lucy Wiseman is hearing the case. Closing dates that had been aimed at mid-October were pushed to November 17 and November 18, the two days before the game ships.
THE WEEK AROUND THE DROP
- October 1, 2026: Store pages settle on Mature 17+ and PEGI 18.
- October 8, 2026: Cyberleek’s long play clip, with extended nudity, spreads.
- October 13, 2026: A further nude clip of Lucia circulates.
- October 14, 2026: The Glasgow hearing is extended into November, with extra dates on the 17th and 18th.
- October 15, 2026: Sacked staff rally at the tribunal in the morning; Rockstar posts the launch trailer the same day.
An IWGB spokesperson has asked a blunt question the studio has not answered in public: if these workers leaked Grand Theft Auto VI, where are those leaks? The Cyberleek files are a different fight, and Take-Two has already gone after repositories. The Glasgow case is about a Discord used by people who built the game and will not be on the credits screen on November 19.
Why Does the Trailer Open on the Keys?
The first image is water and the Keys, a part of Leonida that prior trailers left in the margins. That is not a random beauty shot. The official copy still sells “the darkest side of the sunniest place in America,” and the Keys are the postcard of that line. They also sit inside a living Florida inside Leonida that Rockstar has already spent a year mapping in stills, radio drops, and the August look.
Opening there tells people who have watched every leak that the studio still has corners it prefers to show itself. It also tells people who have not watched a 27-minute gameplay dump that this is a vacation state with a warrant on it. Lucia’s ankle tag and the reverse-charge call do the rest: she is out, or almost out, and the sun is not free.
Grand Theft Auto VI still arrives November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The 34-track album ships the same day. The last trailer did not need to teach anyone how to play. It needed a song, a couple, and 35 days of that clip sitting on top of every stolen one.
