On the occasion of World Radio Day, Outreach has celebrated the radio day at Jaydev Bhawan here on Sunday evening.
A small Radio exhibition has been conducted where antique radio sets, gramophones and broadcasting equipment were stalled.
The event was graced by Madhusudan Padhy, IAS, as chief guest and attended by Shri Sandeep Sahoo, Radio journalist, Randeep Pradhan, Shri Dilip Sathpathy, Information Commissioner.
Speaking on the occasion Chief guest Madhusudan Padhy, said,” I am a regular and active listener, we have grown up listening to the radio. Even During the Indo-Pakistan war in 1971, we used to get information from Radio, but nowadays Radio is not as popular as Electronic and new age media. Keeping this in mind the Government is planning many new projects, Even our PM Narendra Modi is promoting Radio through the ”Mann Ki Baat”. Various community radio has been set up to encourage people to get connected.”
Radio journalist Sandeep Sahu said that Radio has been playing a significant role during disasters. when access to other mediums is quite difficult, people can easily access this, especially in an emergency situation. he said that Radio’s future is bright as our successors are liking it.
Dilip Bisoi, the information commissioner, has said that for him radio has always been a teacher. Radio has played a key role in changing his pronunciation. For him Radio was, is and always will be there.
Doctor’s and broadcasters who were played outstanding roles during the second wave also felicitated by guests.
The thanksgiving speech was delivered by Col D.D Swain and the meeting was coordinated by Jayandra Behera, Bishnupriya.
Due to Covid restrictions, the radio fair has not been held so outreach planning to conduct its radio fair in March.
