The Southeast monsoon has arrived in Odisha as per the information conveyed by the Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD.
The monsoon season usually marks its presence in Odisha around June 10 every year.
The conditions are also favourable for its advancement into the remaining parts of the State in the next 48 hours, as announced by the Met department through their Twitter handle.

The weatherman has already issued a forecast predicting torrential downpours in the State between June 10 and 13 due to low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the senior scientist of IMD Rajendra Jenamani, “Monsoon touched some parts of the State today. Under its effect, South Odisha and Bolangir experienced heavy rainfall. The progress of the monsoon has been very good so far and Odisha is likely to get normal rainfall this year. The State will witness more than normal rainfall in June.”
Yesterday, the Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) had directed all Collectors and Municipal Commissioners to be prepared for the heavy rainfall as predicted by IMD between June 10 and 14.
“During such intense and continued rainfall, flash flood/ flood-like situation may occur in different rivers, nullah and water bodies. In hilly areas, landslides may occur. Waterlogging may be experienced in different parts including urban/ low lying areas,” the SRC said.
It is speculated that widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall and extremely heavy rainfall will likely occur over a large number of districts of Odisha during June 10 and June 14.
