Odisha Government has decided to reopen schools or classes 10 and 12 from July 26, 2021. School and Mass Education Secretary, Satyabrata Sahu has conveyed that this circular would be applicable for both private and government schools. Schools will be open five days a week, starting from Monday to Friday.
Further, the Education Secretary also stated that schools that are conducting matric examinations would reopen only after the end of examinations. The timing of the schools will be from 10 am to 1:30 pm. However, schools will continue with online teaching for all classes including classes 10 and 12.
The Education Ministry also added that if the situation gets better, students of class 9 would also be called for physical classes. Class 9 schools will re-open from August 16, 2021. It was also added that preparations have already been started for re-starting classes for class 11 from September 15, 2021.
Schools and colleges in Odisha have been shut owing to the covid pandemic. Meanwhile, after reviewing the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the state decided to extend lockdown partially till August 1 in certain districts. However, cities with low positivity rates have seen ease in restrictions.
Several states have been eventually opening up schools after the betterment of the COVID-19 scenario. Schools are being re-opened with strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines. Schools have re-opened in several rural parts of Maharashtra. States such as Chandigarh, Haryana, also decided to re-open schools for physical classes.
As for class 11 students of Odisha, they could only join school only after admission into Plus II courses has been completed.
