Phulbani: Could Kandhamal district be the next coffee destination in odisha?
Around 1.09 lakh hectare land across six blocks are given by district administration for expansion of coffee cultivation in the state. Because of the favourable climate in the district the ICB (Coffee Board of India) have shown interest in the process of expansion of coffee cultivation. Following it the district administration did the mapping of the respective lands.
Raikia, Daringbadi, Tikabali, G Udayagiri, Phiringia and K Nuagaon are among the 12 blocks in the district which will be under cultivation. Mango and jackfruit orchards of Horticulture and Soil Conservation are considered for the ciltivation.
Since 1974 till now about 2 hectare land in G Udayagiri and 40 hectare in Daringbadi are under coffee farming.
It will be a great way to boost tourism in Odisha.
