The Nandankanan Zoological Park has organised an online painting and slogan competition to commemorate World Elephant Day, which is marked on August 12 every year in nations all over the world.
Students in Class I to VI can enter the Painting Competition with the subject “Protect Our Heritage Animal-Elephant,” while students in Class VII to XII can enter the Painting Competition with the theme “Man-Elephant Conflicts.”
Everyone is welcome to enter the Slogan Competition with the topic “Elephant Conservation.”
While World Elephant Day was commemorated amid Covid-19 restrictions, the zoo’s pachyderms were treated to a variety of fruits specifically prepared by the officials for the occasion, as they are every year.
The occasion was not marked with fanfare today due to the epidemic. Visitors, on the other hand, were given information on how to spread the elephant bloodline and how to preserve it from predators.
Sudarshan Patnaik, a world-renowned sand artist, sculpted sand art on Puri beach, urging everyone to unite and provide their support to the future protection of our forests’ pride (elephants).
