On Sunday, Subhranshu Senapati, an Odisha boy, became the first cricketer from the state to be sold at the IPL Auction.
On the second day of the IPL 2022 super auction, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) purchased Odisha Ranji Captain Subhranshu Senapati for Rs 20 lakh. His basic price was Rs 20 lakh, and CSK paid the same amount for him.
Subhranshu Senapati became the third cricketer from Odisha to be purchased by IPL clubs as a result of this. Biplab Samantray and Haladhar Das, both from the state, have previously represented Sunrisers Hyderabad and Deccan Chargers in the league.

Subhranshu Senapati is an Indian cricketer who was born on December 30, 1996, in Kendujhar, Odisha. On October 6, 2016, he made his first-class debut for Odisha in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy. On 3 February 2017, he made his Twenty-20 debut for Odisha in the 2016–17 Inter State Twenty-20 Tournament. On February 25, 2017, he made his List A debut for Odisha in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy. With 427 runs in six matches in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy, he was Odisha’s best run-scorer. With 617 runs in nine matches, he was Odisha’s best run-scorer in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy. And he is also the current captain of the Odisha Ranji team.
