Odisha Unfurls “Pitha On Wheels” For Raja Festival Amidst Covid-19 Restrictions

by RTD Journal

In the midst of the pandemic, enjoy tasty pancakes delivered right to your door this Raja festival, according to the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC), which has launched ‘Pitha on Wheels’ for inhabitants of two cities.

“With the Raja festival starting on Monday, the OTDC has launched the ‘Pitha on Wheels’ with the help of Mission Shakti to sell various ‘pithas’ on the auspicious occasion in Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur despite COVID restrictions,” OTDC Chairperson Shreemayee Mishra said today.

She read a message from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to the people of Odisha on the occasion of the Raja festival, saying that the CM expressed his delight at the initiative to make Odia delicacies available at people’s doorsteps during the lockdown.

“Every year during Raja festival, the OTDC provides city residents with a variety of pithas and swings on the premises of Pantha Nivas. Because to the COVID constraints, we decided to recreate last year’s idea of “Pitha on Wheels” this year to make the occasion extra special. The ‘Pitha on Wheels’ service will be provided for the first time in Sambalpur, in addition to Bhubaneswar. The pithas will also be sold at OTDC shops in Cuttack and Rourkela, according to Mishra.

Pithas will also be available online through food delivery services, according to her.

“People can place orders, and online food delivery boys will pick them up from our counters and deliver them to their doorsteps,” Mishra added, urging people to celebrate the festival indoors with Odia delicacies while the city is closed.

From June 14 to 16, the ‘Pitha on Wheels’ service will be accessible between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Master Canteen, Khandagiri, CRP Square, Patia, Chandrasekharpur, and Rupali in Bhubaneswar.
