New Zealand vs. Pakistan: Series Called Off By NZ Due To Security Concerns

The Historic New Zealand tour of Pakistan, which was set to square off in 5T20I’s and 3ODI’s from September 23 to October 23, was abandoned by the New Zealand Cricket Team a few minutes before the first ball of the ODI match. This was NZ’s first tour to Pakistan in 18 years. The First match was set to take place at Rawalpindi Stadium on Friday but it didn’t begin on time, leading to the abandonment of the series, and both the teams were advised to be in their respective hotel rooms.

The Cricket Board of Pakistan has released a series of tweets:

As per the statement of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Prime Minister Imran Khan had spoken to the Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern and informed her about the security arrangements for the visiting team.

New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive David White issued a statement to say it was simply not possible to continue with the tour after the advice he was receiving, and they are calling the team back. “I understand this will be a blow for the PCB, who have been wonderful hosts, but player safety is paramount and we believe this is the only responsible option,” as stated in a press release.

The Netizens on Twitter didn’t look happy at all and expressed themselves with the following tweets. Even Wasim Akram & Shoaib Malik took there to address themselves.

Shoaib Malik accused New Zealand of ‘Killing Pakistan Cricket’ followed with red angry emoji’s

Shahid Afridi also didn’t stand back, calling it a HOAX Threat and blasting over The abandonment of the series by the Black Caps
