Kim Jong Un’s Weight Loss Sparks Controversy over His Health

by RTD Journal

While making his first public appearance after a lengthy absence, many noticed Kim Jong Un looking slimmer. This triggered many speculations that his weight loss may be a clear sign of Kim’s deteriorating health.

In the images published by KCNA last weekend, the 37-year-old dictator was seen addressing a ruling party politburo meeting- his first in over a month.

A Seoul-based news site, NK News, carried out a detailed analysis on the photos comparing pictures of the North Korean leader from November-December, 2020, to April 2021, and June 2021.

In one of the images, Kim Jong Un was seen wearing his favourite IWC Schaffhausen Portofino watch worth of $12,000. Apparently, the strap of his watch had been tightened.

Last year, Kim went on a 20 days hiatus during which he missed the birthday celebrations of his late grandfather and state founder Kim Il Sung.

This aroused many rumours about his health.

Experts had assessed that Kim Jong Un was at high risk of cardiovascular disease with his family also having a history of heart issues.

It is believed that Kim Jong Un weighs around 140 kilograms and have gained 50 kilograms since coming to power in 2011 (NIS-November 2020)
