Journey Of Jeon Jung kook Of BTS

by Bithika Mohanty

Disclaimer: This article covers the journey of Jung kook of becoming a performer.

Jeon Jungkook (전정국) was born in the year 1997 on September 1st, he is the youngest member of the globally recognized and appreciated group BTS (방탄소년단).

Well, let us not jump into the guy he is now, let us go back to Jungkook’s childhood. His family consists of his parents and elder brother.  He attended Baekyang Elementary and Middle School in Busan. When he became a trainee, he transferred to Singu Middle School in Seoul. Jungkook initially wanted to become a badminton player, but after seeing GD of Bigbang performing heartbreaker he wanted to become a singer. (Thank you GD).

Now, in the year 2011, when he was auditioning for a survival show superstar K, even though he was not selected, he received casting offers from 7 entertainment companies. He eventually chose to become a trainee under Big Hit Entertainment after seeing RM (OR as the ARMY says he has a crush on RM, we all know that), now his fellow band member and leader in BTS.
To become the performer he is now,  he went to Los Angeles during the summer of 2012 to receive dance training from Movement Lifestyle, his present is all because of his dedication and efforts from the past.

In the year 2012, he can be seen in Jo Kwon’s  I’m Da One M/V  (oh the old bighit intro), and he can also be seen as a backup dancer of GLAM who were a girl group of big-hit now hybe labels.
In the year 2013, Jungkook made his debut as a member of BTS with the album 2 cool 4 Skool (June 13th, 2013), followed by  O!RUL8,2 ? (September 11th, 2013).

In the year 2014, along with BTS, he was a part of Skool Luv Affair (February 12, 2014), then in the same year in the month of May, he was a part of the album Skool Luv Affair Special Edition, if you think here is where 2014 ends, lol no! Jungkook and BTS have got a whole meal for you presenting! 1st Japan Single Album: No More Dream [June 4, 2014], 2nd Japan Single Album: Boy In Luv [July 16, 2014], and then my personal favorite their first album Dark & Wild [August 19, 2014].

BTS  along with Jungkook worked hard to give us fabulous comebacks and albums in the year 2015 as well and then comes 2016 the Wings album. This album had the pop track “Begin” which was his 1st solo, which told his story of moving to Seoul at a young age to become an idol and expresses his gratitude towards his fellow members for taking care of him during that time.

The second solo was in the year 2018,  which was a future bass song titled “Euphoria”, which was released with an accompanying nine-minute short film, as the introduction to the third part of BTS’ “Love Yourself” series. “Euphoria” was produced by DJ Swivel and charted at number five on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. Euphoria has a soft corner in every ARMY’s heart, not only because it is by our koo but when you hear it, you will feel an overwhelming feeling which you cannot explain.

The third solo was in the year 2020, which was My Time a part of the band’s  2020 studio album Map of the Soul: 7, “My Time” charted at number 84 on the US Billboard Hot 100. “Euphoria” and “My Time” are the first and second longest charting solo tracks among K-pop singers on Billboards World Digital Song Sales chart, having spent 72 and 68 weeks respectively on the ranking.

On October 25, 2018, Jungkook (together with the rest of the BTS members) was ordained with the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea.

Jungkook’s popularity has earned him the nickname “Sold Out King” as items that he is seen using often sell out quickly. These include shoes, Downy fabric softener, wine, novels—namely I Decided to Live as Me by Kim Soo-Hyun, which became a best-seller in both Korea and Japan —and Hanbok. Korean media reported that Jungkook had created a “Modern Hanbok” fashion trend in the Korean entertainment industry when celebrities such as Jun Hyun-moo, Jang Do-Yeon, Gong Hyo-jin, MC Oh Seung-hwan, and The Return of Superman’s Park Joo-ho began wearing similar clothing after he was photographed wearing it.

Jungkook has the writing credits of We are bulletproof pt2, No more dream, Outro: Circle Room Cypher, Outro: Love Is Not Over, Run, Dead leaves, love is not over, Run alternative and ballad mix, Magic shop, My time, youth, still with you, your eyes tell, in the soop, telepathy, Stay and Film out.( Jung kook)

In the early hours of his birthday, he went live on v-live, to celebrate his birthday with ARMY, and he knows pretty well ARMY loves Jung kook.

he had said a lot of beautiful things, to strengthen the ARMY, I am listing a few of my favorites:
1. Even if we have hard times, it matters a lot when we are happy.
2. You should build your own goals and dreams. I think it’s really sad that some people don’t get a chance to build their own dreams because of outside pressure.
3. Don’t do anything you don’t like to do. Just do whatever you want.
4. Effort makes you. You’ll regret it someday if you don’t try your best now. Don’t think it’s too late but keep working on it. It may take time but there’s nothing that gets worse when you practice. You may get sad, but it’s evidence that you are doing good.
5. Whenever ARMYs miss us, you can come to us. If you have to go or if you want to go, it’s okay for you to leave us. But always remember this. I will always be here.
6. Without anger or sadness, you won’t be able to feel true happiness.

Happy birthday, Jeon Jungkook. This is just about his journey, just about what he was and what he is now. It takes a lot of effort to become someone you admire, do not give up. Jeon Jungkook got your back regardless you are an ARMY or not.

Remember his words efforts matter! Happy Jung kook day!
