Five Lighthouses Going To Be Developed In Odisha

Five lighthouses in Odisha are going to be developed as tourism destinations. It will take place under PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model to promote tourism in Odisha.
It was said by the Union Minister for Ports Shipping and Waterways development.
5 places which will go under the process for the development by the government are Gopalpur Lighthouse Ganjam district, Puri Lighthouse Puri District, Chandrabhaga Lighthouse Puri and Paradip Lighthouse Jagatsinghpur District and False Point Lighthouse Kendrapara under PPP model.
According to the minister’s statement given in Rajya Sabha the project components for the above have been finalized. State Coastal Zone Management Authority for CRZ (Coastal Regulation Zone) have also given.

There are many lighthouses along the long coastline of India and in the associated islands. They are administered by the Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships, Government of India whose headoffice is located in Noida.

They are categorized for administrative reasons into nine directorates: GandhidhamJamnagarMumbaiGoaCochinChennaiVisakhapatnamKolkata and Port Blair.
