Ex MLA Bikram Kesari Verma Dies of Covid

Former MLA representing Mahanga assembly constituency in Cuttack and Odisha State Cashew Development Corporation chairman Bikram Keshari Verma succumbed to Covid on Saturday.

Verma was infected by Covid and was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He succumbed to the virus today, as informed by his son-in-law Niranjan Bhuyan.

He served the Mahanga assembly constituency as a BJD candidate from 2004 to 2009. 

Expressing his grief over the former lawmaker’s demise on Twitter, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan wrote, “I am saddened to hear about the demise of former MLA Bikram Keshari Verma of Mahanga constituency in Cuttack district. I am praying for his peace.”

BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda also condoled the passing of Verma. He said Verma was widely admired as a very sincere and honest politician.

He was 81-year-old by the time of his death.
