The first in the Clean Energy Meet series for commercial and industrial units by Mercom India concludes in Bangalore today

Bangalore, India, June 3, 2022: Mercom India, a leading clean energy communications and consulting firm recognized worldwide for its expertise in renewable energy hosted its first “C&I Clean Energy Meet 2022” today in Bangalore. At the event, commercial and industrial (C&I) entities from varied sectors including MTR foods, iD Fresh Food, Krishna Flour Mills, Nokia Networks, Aditya Birla, Emersons and national informatics center participated.

Ahead of the World Environment Day, the conference participants attended sessions on how renewable energy can cater to the huge power needs of the C&I sector, save costs, and protect the environment by going green; avail open access solutions in the current regulatory framework; and the best ways to finance clean energy solutions.

The speakers at the event deliberated on related barriers and solutions to clean energy transition and reputed clean energy providers and corporates shared practical solutions for C&I entities to help bring down their power costs by procuring green power.

Ashok Kumar, Manager ESG at Narayana Health, talked about how the company is saving over ₹40 million every year by opting for solar power. Kurlon, the mattress company which has rooftop solar installations at its manufacturing units in three different states with a combined capacity of 2.5 MW has saved over ₹75 million since its first installation in 2016.

The key discussion pointers at the event were how the open access projects generating power through hybrid solar-wind sources have seen a rising demand as they offer round-the-clock power to consumers. The growing trend of corporates making a shift towards renewables and the rise in retail tariffs over the years resulting in the long-term investment into open access projects, to reap benefits over the contract duration, was discussed.

Priya Sanjay, Managing Director, Mercom India shared, “After an overwhelming response in Banglore, Mercom India plans to conduct such focussed C&I events in Pune, Chennai, Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, and Noida. We strongly believe that such grassroot level knowledge-sessions are likely to boost solar adoption among C&Is, especially in the MSME sector.”

She further added, “Our efforts at Mercom India, have always been to offer deep market insights that help in decision-making. From the last few quarters, we have observed that our Rooftop solar and Open Access market intelligence reports are gradually gaining popularity.”
