The infamous ‘Baba ka Dhaba’ fiasco takes another turn as the owner, 80-year-old Kanta Prasad attempted to commit suicide on Thursday. He is currently admitted at Safdarjung Hospital and receiving treatment.
According to police, they received a PCR call stating that a man has tried committing suicide and is rushed to hospital.
“Police rushed to the spot and found that he is Kanta Prasad. He is currently undergoing treatment. His wife informed the police that he had been depressed for the last few days,” a senior police officer informed.
Prasad was facing a financial crisis as the restaurant he had opened in December last had to be shut down because the cost of running it was too much compared to what he earned. This incited the theory behind suicide.
Last year, Prasad had lodged an FIR against YouTuber Gaurav Wasan for allegedly taking money that was raised to help him and his wife.
‘Baba ka Dhaba’ became an internet sensation after Wasan uploaded a video of Prasad and his wife on October 7 last year, which showed the couple talking about the lack of customers at the eatery in Malviya Nagar. Many people online raised money to help the cause.
