A generous sum of Rs 920 crore has been allocated 42 lakh small and marginalised farmers under the Kalia scheme on Friday for Kharif crop on account of Akshaya Tritiya & Krushak Diwas.
The initiative is carried forward with the hopes that small farmers, as well as farmers without land of their own, would be able to earn a decent livelihood.
According to the long-standing chief minister, Shri Naveen Patnaik, “The scheme is the best for farmers across the country.”
So far, the Kalia Yojana has brought a smile to many farmers and helped alleviate their debt.
Highly praising the sacrifice of the farmers, the Chief Minister said, “Farmers are our pride and glory. Farmers’ sacrifices for the country and society are unparalleled”.
The CM offered prayers before Lord Jagannath for a good crop this year. “I urge everyone to strictly follow Covid guidelines,” Naveen said at the end of his speech. This virtual video conference was presided by Agriculture Department Minister Arun Sahu, Western Odisha Development Council Chairman Asit Tripathy, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department Secretary Suresh Vashishth and other senior officials.
