Bhubaneswar, 11th June 2022:Aiming to ensure a sustainable environment through clean beaches, a Beach Clean-Up Drive was organized by Panda Travel Mart, the leading luggage and travel accessory brand of Bhubaneswar in collaboration with Youth For Sustainability (YFS), and The 6 AM Club at five beaches of Odisha on World Oceans Day.

Under the initiative, 5 major beaches of the state including Ramachandi-Konark, Astarang-Puri, Dhabaleswar-Berhampur, Digha- Balasore, and Markandi-Ganjam were cleaned up by the volunteers allotted. This Beach Clean-Up Drive marks the start of a 1.5-year-long initiative to keep the beaches clean. Youth for Sustainability and Panda Travel Mart will engage with the local population near the beaches to work on this initiative.

The event was flagged off at Ramachandi beach in the presence of B M Baishali, Ollywood actress, Aditya Panda from Panda Travel Mart, Rahul Maharana Social worker, and Punyashlok Panda from Youth for Sustainability India.

Speaking on the initiative program, Aditya Panda from Panda Travel Mart said, “Through this drive, we want to preserve and protect our beaches as it plays one of the most vital roles in tourism. As Panda Travel Mart deals are in the travel industry, it is also our duty to preserve our beaches for the future as well as for the ecosystem that makes it worth traveling.” “During our Clean Beach Drive, we found many plastic bottles, wrappers, and other hazardous items on the beaches which not only make the beach dirty but also pose threat to marine life”

Speaking on the Occasion, Ollywood actress B M Baishali said, “We often go to other states or countries in search of clean beaches for a movie shoot. If beaches in our state will be cleaner and safer we don’t have to go outside. Being from the movie industry, I urge youth to take action. If we are not doing it now then it will be too late.”

It should be noted that as many as 300 volunteers participated in the clean-up drive . Also, volunteers who performed well during the clean practice also got felicitated by Panda Travel Mart.
